Configuration: SDSL service with Flowpoint DSL fp2200-12
Static IPs - no DHCP or NAT enabled.

Issue: Service is working. After static IP change on VT1005, cannot login to configuration pages through PC port.

I was able to login to the configuration settings on the VT1005 using the PC port, and changed the TCP/IP configuration to a Static IP. Entered the subnet (different - 255.255.255.248), Gateway, DNS settings.

The changes evidently worked, as my Vonage service is now working, and when I ping the assigned static IP I get a response.

HOWEVER, I can no longer login to the Configuration pages on the VT1005 through the PC port. I have tried the standard http://192.168.102.1 , as well as the new static IP address. My PC was manually configured to an IP address right next to the standard ( I used 192.168.102.5 and 192.168.102.100). When that didn't work, I set up DHCP exactly as in the troubleshooting guide, rebooted, and still could not login (interestingly, rebooting under DHCP, the VT1000 didn't assign me 192.168.102.100, or something near that. I ended up with something in the 168.xx range.)

PS: I assume (although there is no documentation) that you can only get to the configuration pages through the PC port. I tried to access the new static IP via http:// on a web browser from another computer on the network, and this did not work. Again, neither did my attempts when hooked into the PC port on the VT1005.

So, how can I get back into the configuration settings on the VT1005? I am going to need to change the static IP to something else in the near future.

SECOND QUESTION - how do I ensure that I get Vonage to update me with the latest firmware update on the VT1005 so the VT1005 doesn't go down intermittently like I have seen reported in this newsgroup?

It's all fixed. I think I jumped the gun. Once the VT1005 had a chance to initialize on the network, and with Vonage, I hooked back up to the PC port via DHCP and was assigned the (correct) IP address of 192.168.102.100. I can surf the web, and login to the configuration page.

This is good news!!! I had never read anywhere that you could in fact assign a static IP to the Vonage box (many had posted workarounds about virtual static IPs via limiting DHCP). With the VT1005 you clearly can.

Now, any advice on how to ensure I get the firmware updates I need??
