Some people in this forum are reporting that Linksys PAP2 firmware upgrades to version 2.0.13e are available ( I purchased my PAP2 from Best Buy about a month ago and am still on 2.0.13b. I have been having some audio quality issues (echoing mostly) and thought it would be a good idea to try and update since many people have reported improved audio quality with the new firmware.

I called Vonage customer service twice regarding this issue. The first time, I spoke to a gentleman named Sebastian who seemed surprised that my firmware was so outdated. He tried to update the firmware, but was unable to. Unfortunately, I was using my Vonage line at the time so he told me to hang up and reset the PAP2 to factory defaults by pressing '****73738' and then the new firmware would be downloaded automatically. I tried this but the voice menu then prompted me for a password, which I did not have. At this point it was late so I gave up for the night.

The second time I called Vonage customer service, I spoke with another gentleman named Wilson. He told me that the 'b' version of the PAP2 firmware was the latest available. This seems to conflict with what I've heard on these forums, but he was adamant. I also told him about the instructions Sebastian gave me and the fact that I was prompted to enter a password. Wilson said he had no knowledge of a factory default setting and had no idea why I would be prompted for a password. Although he was very nice, the call ended without a firmware upgrade.

Email sent to Vonage regarding this issue has, to date, not been replied to.

So... I have two questions.

1. What is the latest firmware update for the Linksys PAP2? If it really is 2.0.13b, then I guess I am up to date.

2. If there is a firmware release beyond what I currently have, how can I get it? Vonage customer support seems unable to assist. Any ideas/suggestions?

I do have the 2.0.13e version that was downloaded from Vonage, this was a while ago when they downloaded it from me, but it appears that they may have pulled it since subsequent posts from other members state that they are only getting the version you currently have.

I think you may only chance may to be to call in again, when you have an hour to spare, and see if you get a different response.

There are some Vonage reps that peruse the forums, but I haven't seen any comments from them on this.

Wish I could be of more help, but Vonage needs to push this down to you, there's no other way.

Thanks, rozy! I received an email from Vonage support the other day and they claim that I have the latest firmware available. <shrug>
