About half the time I can't call out. I get a dial tone but after dialing I get silence for 20 seconds or so then a busy signal. At other times it works fine. Incoming calls are always OK. I have tried different phones and it does not help. Vonage support tells me it is my upload speed but it measures at 250kbps. I am connected via RoadRunner cable service. |

not that I think it's the problem but that seems slow for roadrunner. what upload speed do you get when you upload a 1-5 meg file to your roadrunner supplied web space? post detailed results from testyourvoip.com to boston. also, where are you located? |

your problem is most likely you are timing out, do you have the linksys device? if so reply with your account number and I can adjust your timers which can extend your timeout period.
Do you have any delay on your line? are you using 7,10,or 11 digit dialing? Are you connected to your home wiring or a phone directly connected to the adapter. All these things can affect your calls if you dont have it the right way (and not limited to) |

Adjusting the SIP timer would probably make it stop timing out, but if its taking 20-30 seconds to hit the proxy server with an invite request chances are the phone calls are not going to work either *gun show*. |

I am responding to questions in both recent posts here.
My TestYourVoip result to boston (me to Boston), preserving voice quality, 4.3. There are many other numbers in the results, I do not know which are important. This was when outgoing calls were working. I tried again just after a failed call and got the same result.
I am located in Chapel Hill, NC.
My Vonage box is connected directly to my SB4100 cable modem. I have a Linksys WRT54gs router but that is between the Vonage box and my computer - could it affect outgoing calls?
Phone is directly connected to the adapter. I have tried 2 phones with the same results.
My acct number is [ADMIN EDIT - NO ACCOUNT NUMBERS -PLEASE USE PM]
Thanks for any and all help. |

Thanks but whatever changes you made did not work. In fact the Vonage box cannot connect at all now - it is displaying 4 blinks followed by a pause. I have tried resetting it and the cable modem at least twice with the same results. Computer internet connection is working OK. |

I didnt make any changes to your device, as you have the motorola, not the Linksys, so we cannot adjust timers. If it is stuck on 4 blinks its trying to register with us, and its not. You can try logging into the MTA with 192.168.102.1/Admn.html i believe......or you may have to call us up as you may have registration problems and your probably getting unauthorized. Try disabling your voicemail for 2 minutes then re-enable as this will try and reset the script, but it wont always work. |
