yuea try that, leave uit off for 2 mins, then renable it, then wait like 2-3 mins, if its still nbot solid try rebooting the adapter. if still dont work give us a call.

enigma,

I have a similar problem but not the same. My outgoing calls on occasion would get a fast busy signal but when I redial immediately, it goes through. Is this the same time out issue? I have the rt31p2.

I had the exact same problem and (after 12 calls to Vonage, being hung up on repeatedly, lied to, etc. etc.) I had the case escalated to their tier-3 support staff. In my case I had replaced my original Vonage provided Motorola phone adapter w/a new Linksys RT31P2. At that time I was no longer able to make calls out like you. I went through two weeks of troubleshooting with Vonage saying it was my Westell DSL modem. I ended up getting a different brand of DSL modem from my ISP but the problem persisted. Only until I got rid of the new Linksys router and went back to the Motorola phone adapter did my out-going call problem go away.

Make sure you're not using some kind of speed dialer etc etc, those dont work too well as it skips some numbers which would result in a fast busy. Make sure you're dialing the # correctly, also are you using 7, 10 or 11 digit dialing

we use the 11 digit dialing here in the chicagoland area. I'm sure I typed in the right number b/c when I redial after a fast busy, it works.

I finally got this problem solved. The trick I believe was to talk to a tech at Vonage who actually knows what he is doing. It was a simple matter of downloading new software to my Motorola box. It's rather pitiful that none of the other techs could fix this. To Vonage's credit they refunded my payments for the past 2 months when I was having the problems.

Dear Vonage friends

I have the exactly same problem as pgaitken, and I have no problem to receive calls, but I can not dial out.. No matter what I dial, I got a silence for more than 30seconds and then very fast busy signal.

Rebooted every thing, does not help.

I have no problem to access web site, no problem to upload files.

I need make urgent calls, and your help is greatly appreicated.

my problem turned out to be the phone. it was a cheap phone whose tone was too soft for the Vonage adapter to pick up. so i went out a bought another cheap GE wired phone (under $10) and it works great. Never had another problem dialing out.
