Ever since I switched to Vonage, my home phones have worked fine. However, I have a phone that acts weird. The phone has a display for caller ID and an indicator light that flashes when I have a Voicemail message. Since hooking up to Vonage, the display on the phone keeps flashing a message every 10 to 15 seconds. If I have a Voicemail, it says,"Message Waiting". If there are no messages it says, "Message Waiting Off". No matter what it keeps blinking. That's not the worst part. This phone has a cordless unit also and it too Flashes constantly. I can't leave the cordless phone off of it's base because the display lighting up every 10 seconds will kill the battery. Has anyone else seen this? It seems as though whatever sends the message indicator info just keeps sending the status every 10 to 15 seconds. It's a GE Corded/Cordless Model 26955GE-1-A. Help Please! |

Yes, call Vonage and ask them to fix the MWI settings on your adapter. I had to do it as well. |

Also when I check my voicemail I always exit the voicemail system by pressing * to ensure the VMI turns off. Never had a problem yet. |

I have the opposite problem. My phone line will never blink if I get new voicemail. I have to pick up the phone and check for the stutter tone.
It's a Uniden 2.4 Ghz expandable (one base, up to 4 handsets).
I currently set up Vonage to send my cell phone a text message when there is voicemail, but having a light would be much better.
I asked Vonage support about it. They said it depends on the phone. Most work, but there are a few that don't. The tech wasn't aware of any Uniden's that didn't work and suggested I check my user manual. There's nothing in there about turning the light on.

I can try toggling the MWI on/off (pm acct #). Also go into your voicemailbox with *123, then i THINK the correct options are 9, then 2, this will enable/disable the message waiting indicicator/stutter tone. |

I agree - I was at work when I wrote my messasge. My phone is Uniden model DCT6485-2.
Update: After posting, I checked the Uniden FAQ. Found this:
The phone is set up to receive an "FSK" signal through your voice mail only. If you have a "stutter tone" signal then the VMWI (Voice Mail Waiting Indicator) will not work. Your local phone company should be able to tell you what type of signal you have.
Oh well. Guess it'll never work.

I have four phones running off my adapter. Only one VMI stops when the message is deleted. The other three just keep flashing away and cannot be stopped. I have rebooted the adapter, but no help. Tech support said that the Motorola adapter is old and wasn't able to help; I'm waiting on a trouble ticket. |
