I would like to see a reduction in the Vonage Canada price.

In the USA:
Premium Unlimited: $24.99 US ($31.24 CAD)
Basic 500: $14.99 US ($18.74 CAD)

In Canada:
Premium Unlimited: $39.99 CAD ($32.00 US)
Province Unlimited: $34.99 CAD ($28.00 US)
Basic 500: $19.99 CAD ($16.00 US)

I hope that they adjust the Unlimited pricing within Canada - IMO other competitors are going to nip at Vonage's heels.

Yup it would be nice if they could match the US price.

Well the next competitor - so called is Comwave Iphone.. A horrible company and service.. They should change their slogan to "Good bye Phone Company, Hello Nightmare"... They are cheaper by $10.00 but their service is terrible...also when I signed up for the unlimited US & Can pack they told me it was 6000minutes .. not to mention that they charged my CC 5 times for the monthly fee and double for the deposit - then Im shouted down by some twit in their customer service when I query some oddities in the call log..

those prices first came about when the exchage rate was higher.. Vonage Can. has reduced teh Unlimited plan, they did this in Jan, it was $45, now it's $40.. I think the Province Unlimited plan should be alot less, like $27 or something..

Yep, the pricing for the province unlimited plan is definitely out of sync. I suspect that for most people, it would be cheaper to have the basic 500 and pay for the overage than to get the province unlimited plan. With basic 500, the overage charge is 4.9 cents per minute. With that in mind, you could use about 300 extra outgoing minutes on the basic 500 plan for the same price as the province unlimited plan would cost you. So, if you are going to use 800 or more in province minutes every single month, then province unlimited is worth it but if you don't, it's not.

Now that Primus is being offered in Future Shop and the Unlimited Plan is $29 Vonage might have to change the price soon.

If I wasnt moving to the states in 6 months I would already be with Primus.

Agreed, I'm looking at the Province Unlimited Plan, but am hesitiating due to the higher prices vs the competition. I'm hoping for a price reduction.

just go with the 500 plan, see how you like the service, and if the price comes down, or you realize you relaly need the extra minutes, then change at that time..

Although I live in the Ottawa region, most of my calls are placed to Halifax (where I used to live). My folks all live there still. If I call someone in Ottawa, it's usually to say, "Let's go to a movie!" Then we go. I was paying $7.99 per month for a virtual Halifax number. I started looking around to see what else was out there that might be cheaper. Not everyone would benefit from this. It all depends on your calling patterns. Here's what I used to have with Vonage:

$39.99 - Unlimited Service
$ 7.99 - Virtual Number in Halifax
$ 7.20 - Taxes (gst & pst)
$55.18 - TOTAL

I switched to Vonage's $19.99 plan and got rid of my virtual number. Now I'm paying:

$19.99 - 500 min service
$ 3.00 - Taxes
$22.99 - TOTAL

I added Primus Unlimited calling for Halifax only. It costs me $19.99 for that per month. Primus:

$19.99 - unlimited local calling (Hfx)
$ 3.00 - Taxes
$22.99 - TOTAL

Combining both Vonage and Primus, I'm paying a total of $45.98 per month. That's a savings of $9.20 per month ($110.40 per year). It makes sense to study your calling patterns and choose the right plans.

I am surprised that Vonage has not reduced their unlimited to $29.99. Primus has theirs unlimited for $29.99. Their virtual numbers are only $4.99 per month - not $7.99. It would be a bit cheaper if I just switched completely to Primus, but I would lose my Vonage phone number. The quality is just as good. I have not had any problems with the quality on both Vonage or Primus.

I'm not sure why Vonage is not competing a little better with Primus.

Not to mention that with Vonage you have to pay shipping fee of $19.99 and an $39.99 Activation fee... which is all waved with Primus.

The only thing better with Vonage I see is that you virtual numbers anywhere in Canada/US/Mexico/UK whereas Primus you can only get numbers for about 10 major canadian cities.

Come on Vonage, cut dem prices! :S
