Yup, for some reason (not a logical one that's for sure), I'd rather use
Vonage
(maybe the advertising works on me
), but I just can't justify it in light of competitors offering a similar product but at a lower cost.
Vonage
if you're listening, a lower province wide price and you've got me, otherwise, nice knowing ya !

For me the lower province-wide price would not be much good. I live on a border between two provinces and call both provinces just as equal. It's the unlimited plan that I would like to see go down. At least if it was $29.99 like Primus, it would be more competitive. The cost for Virtual Numbers is also too high - $7.99, whereas Primus is charging $4.99 for them.

Yak communications is also getting pretty competitve. They have 600 outgoing minutes (free incoming) for $18.99 CAD and getting a virtual number is $3.99 CAD (they have for both Canada/US - better than Primus). The unlimited plan is $35.99 though, but you get your first 3 months for $28.99 (by signing a 1 year contract). No activation or shipping charges.
So yup, there is another competitor for
Vonage
. Are they gonna do something soon? :S

It's time for lower price
Vonage
options.
Check your usage
- if using less than 800 minutes per month - change your billing package to the $19.99 option.
Email
customercare@vonage.ca
and tell them you want more competitive pricing.
Let
Vonage
Canada know that other high-quality options exist and that lower pricing is needed to keep business and remain competitive. Remind
Vonage
that number portability works both ways and that the best value option (for which
Vonage
faces serious competition) will be the consumer's choice.
(watch my QOS drop all of the sudden as a result of this post... lol.. j/k)

Vonage
is now $10/month more expensive then their main competitor for the Unlimited Canada/USA plan (Vonage's $39 vs competitor's $29).
Vonage
costs $120 MORE per year!
For $10 more per month a Basic 500 customer could have an UNLIMITED Canada/USA plan with the same competitor.
Vonage
has overpriced itself within the Canadian marketplace.
How much longer is
Vonage
going to wait until they start loosing prospective customers to this competitor?

Over the past few months I talked to some workmates about
Vonage
. Two of them joined the
Voip
telephone technology but not with
Vonage
. Both of then went with Primus. I asked them why and they said they did some research on the web and saw that Primus was less expensive by $10 per month. If these two did that, I would hate to think of how many more did it. It would be in Vonage's best interest to lower their unlimited Canadian price.
If we were allowed to subscribe to the
Vonage
US website, the unlimited fee there is $24.99 USD. Convert to Canadian currency and you are talking roughly $32.00. That's much better than $39.99. Maybe
Vonage
does not care so much about the Canadian customer base. Who knows why they are doing this? One of the reasons their sales might be low in Canada is due to the competition winning due to their better pricing.

Exactly.
And the only reason I didnčt choose Primus is they have no US numbers. If you look on the Yak - Worldcity website, they advertise their prices in USD. You will see the Canadian price right under it. But anyways, youd see with them the canadian price is pretty much just a currency conversion of the US price.
9,99$ USD (600 minutes outgoing..no incoming)
12,99$ CAD
14,99$ USD (600 minutes outgoing..unlimited incoming)
18,99$ CAD
29,99$ USD (unlimited outgoing/incoming)
35,99$ CAD (First 3 mois @ 23,99$ USD ...$28,99 CAD)
Virtual Numbers
2,99$ USD
3,99$ CAD
But
Vonage
seems to have more features with their service.. ie I believe you can activate call forward from the website, with yak, you have to do it from your telephone. I also believe with
Vonage
you can have more than 1 Virtual number, Yak only allows 1. In the end, Ičd be willing to pay the extra $1/month with
Vonage
. But I wouldnt want to pay $60 worth in activation/shipping fees plus $7.99 virtual number.
So yup,
Vonage
, come on. Lower yer prices.

Plus, and listen closely to this: YAK is absolutely worthless. I was with them for 4 months before switching to
Vonage
and they were horribly unreliable and had terrible quality. also many less features.
Plus for a canadian company i find it really deceptive to advertise in US dollars. but besides that they were terrible. truly
