Hi Nick,
Im beginning to find more and more on the subject. Seems to be something with DTMF banding. Maybe turning the line gain will help.

I am using LinkSys Rt31p2 if anyone cares. I wonder if there is a firmware update to help it out.

I read about it at a couple other forums. Seems like it is not a Vonage specific thing. Do you have any insight on this reebok?

Late last night I as on the phone with a tech. He was confident that trying new firmware would work.

Logging into the RT31P2 I see the version is 1.28. But apparently the VOIP/Phone part has it's own firmware. I asked the guy about this. He did the firmware update on my router from his end.

He told me that after the update was complete that I now have firmware 1.28 with 3.10.3 for the VOIP/phone part of the router.

Currently they are running a debug on their end as I've had a variety of issues. They don't give in easily to replacing the equipment. I've been working with the techs for sometime now. Granted I don't get on the phone with them that often as I'm self employed and don't have the time. But when I'm on with them we're on the phone for quite a while. My understanding is the next step (even being told the next step about 3 weeks ago) is to swap out the RT.

With the current setup:

Cable modem -> DLink router -> RT31P2 my internet speed is back to where it should be. When I had the RT connected to the cable modem my speeds were all over to the point of crawling. I feel the RT is bad. I've experimented with it quite a bit.

Last night my calls were getting dropped right in the middle of conversations. Hell, it happened while on the phone with the tech. Try to explain that one to a client while you're on the phone trying to earn their business.

Yep. Getting the beeps to. Happened before I got cut off a phone call with my girlfriend. I ordered Vonage for her to. She's just thrilled now after hearing all my issues.

Vonage isn't alone. I was on the phone with tech support from lingo all day until they finally told me they'd send a replacement. I would think paying the techs would cost more then a cheap little box. they actually connected me to a level 2 tech for a half hour too. my lingo device was completely non-responsive by the end of the night. I got tired of all the different problems and switched to Vonage that night. I was very happy when I saw they shipped me a router, and a good brand too! I'd shoot them if they sent me a crummy d-link. but so far so good. anyway, I was having that beeping problem in the last 2 weeks of having lingo. I just got my Vonage box today and I've had that beeping problem with them already. I hear it but my gf doesn't know what I'm talking about when I ask her "did you press a button?" if I have half the problems I had with my last Voip provider, Voip wont last long in this house.

Hmm...if you had spurious DTMF problems with another Voip provider and you're having it with Vonage as well, I'd suggest you try a different telephone, as it's the only common factor to the two. I think I've heard it happen once or twice, but only when I was on my older (ancient) cordless phone. Never have heard it happen when I'm on my hardwired phone or teleconferencer.

Maybe Vonage as changed in recent months, but I never had a problem getting them to send me a new adapter. I'm on #3 now (had 2 RT31P2 and am currently using an RTP300) and if anything, they seemed to be overly willing to ship me new adapters.

I'm using a new walmart brand uniden dual frequency cordless phone. I think it might have more to do with the phone on the opposite end of the one hearing the actual beep. I'll be making a log of what phone (of many) my gf is using when I hear the beep. we usually talk on either one of her house phones or one of the 3 cell phones in the house. I can tell a difference in sound quality from each phone. lol
