PostPosted: Wed Apr 13, 2005 2:41 am    Post subject: WRT54G V3 & Alchemy... Reply with quote Back to top

Yea Crazy subject I know but I have a WRT54G wich was running HyperWRT2.1b1 with RT31P2 and it was working fine..Than I decided it to take the plunge and get better QoS so I went and got a subscription with Sveasoft Download it Pre Alchemy 7a and it all went down hill! Most people running Pre Alchemy have no problem but for some reason mine was just giving me almost no wireless,Keep drooping the routing table to the RT31P2.And it will go offline and no lease IP back again...

I clear the nvram, rebooted,Hard Reset,Soft Reset,Back to factory defaults and it all just got worst...

So I had to go back to HyperWRT.. Any body have any idea why did I experience such a head ache with Alchemy?
TIA
P.S.
By the way I got v3.

No sveasoft firmware supports V3. Talisman will but until then you need a revision 2.2 or earlier.

Mine is a 2.2

AspectTec the 2.2 uses the same hardware as v3.
Pre Alchemy 7a works fine with v2.2 and v3 with most user that I know.
For some reason though it just didnt with me.

Sveasoft Satori firmware - supports Linksys WRT54G V1.0, V1.1, V2.0 and WRT54GS V1.0

Sveasoft Alchemy firmware - supports Linksys WRT54G V1.0, V1.1, V2.0, V2.2 and WRT54GS V1.0, V1.1*

Sveasoft Freya firmware - supports Linksys WAP54G V1.0, V2.0

Support for wireless routers from Belkin, Buffalotech, and ASUS is under development and will debut H1 2005.

Quote from James the Site admin: You need to use Talisman on this router. Alchemy will work but does not fully support it.

I have also seen posts of people who have lost all their LAN ports and or bricked their router. There is a slight difference in the Hardware in the V3 but I forgot what it was.

New to all this, I just picked up a V3 WRT54G last week and proceeded to try out a few different packages on it. Didn't realize until after I rtfm'd that the V3 was new and not yet supported by any of them. Anyhow, somewhere in the process the ethernet ports got jacked and will not work now with ANY firmware. Wireless side still works but I can't get anything on the ethernet side. Eth lights still blink like they are passing traffic but I can't ping and nothing shows up in the Arp table. Both Lan and Wan are hosed.

I would just take it back and exchange it for a 2.2 to be safe or wait for Talisman one.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 13, 2005 10:07 am    Post subject: Alchemy pre 7a on V3 working so far Reply with quote Back to top

I have a RT31P2, but was having QoS problems. So last weekend I bought a WRT54G, which is version 3, to put between the SB5100 modem and the RT31P2.

HyperWRT worked great, but the QoS did not. So I loaded Alchemy pre 7a, but the router was unable to pull an IP address from my ISP and connect to the internet. Otherwise it seemed ok. So I cleared and reset everything back to factory setting in HyperWRT, reloaded Alchemy - bingo, it works.

I configured the router following AspectTec's suggestions (thanks!) in http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic4943.html and other postings. Everything is working great, including QoS. However, its been less than a day and we'll have to see if it's stable.

Seeing as how alchemy isn't even working correctly yet you're going to be waiting a LONG time for talisman. Did you try www.dd-wrt.com ?

Based on alchemy but with bug fixes and improvements that takes sveasoft forever to do.
