I don't understand why Vonage won't release an update to the firmware that fixes the "running a VPN Server from behind your router" problem.
Other LinkSys firmwares have been out for months that resolve this issue.
It doesn't make any sense, the demographic, early adopters of Voip and going to be power users who most likely want this kind of functionality. I can go buy the 30$ linksys router where it works perfectly off the shelf.
Very frustrating... Where can I make it known to Vonage that this is a requested feature? anyone had any luck getting it work.... Perhaps know where to find a beta firmware? |

I'm having this same problem with my RT41P2 - is there any way to make an official request for this feature or vote for it somewhere? It's seems natural that these routers would support protocol 47 routing/traversal, but they don't. As a side note, I've read that you can implement an L2TP vpn setup instead of a PPTP vpn without any problems - aparently, L2TP doesn't require the same type of traversal. I can't back that up, since I haven't tried it yet, but I'll give it a shot and let you know what I find. In either case, PPTP traversal would be a great feature for the firmware to support. |
