Who do I need to contact at Vonage to stop selling my email address. I now that its Vonage, as I set up a separate email account that should only receive Vonage information (billing, voice mail, etc). I am now receiving other emails that are not Vonage related to this account.

I set up a separate email account at my own domain and only use it for Vonage, and I have never received any email from any party other than Vonage at that address. I have absolutely no reason to believe that Vonage is selling or giving away email addresses.

Prove it to me.

I highly doubt that Vonage is selling email addresses.

I have multiple email addresses that are used for different purposes, I do not get any spam from the email address I have given to Vonage, keep in mind that it only takes one submission of an email address on a website to start a flood of spam.

How do you know it isn't the company you have the email address with that didn't sell your address? How do you know that it isn't some random email generator spam? I get spam to one of my accounts and all the addresses in the to field are variations on my name. They just generate variations like crazy and bulk send to everyone. If it bounces they remove it, if it doesn't then they add it to a good list and boom.

Back in dial-up days my brother switched ISP's but never used the email address they gave him for anything. Never logged in once. Until one day he was curious and connected and it was full of spam. I used to have a netscape.com email address that I did the same thing with. Never used at all but filled up with spam.

I did the exact same thing, set up a separate e-mail account used only between myself and Vonage. I can't corroborate your claim. My e-mail box gets only notices from this forum if I am watching a particular thread, voicemail, and Vonage related e-mail. No junk here.

I too have a separate email for Vonage related items, and in the last 3 months have received nothing but Vonage and this forum emails.

Like the previous posters, the email address I use for Vonage purposes is unique, as in it was created, and is maintained, exclusively for Vonage communications. No spam received. Period.

I take the time to post to ensure that anyone reading this thread gets both sides of the story.

If your dedicated account is on any large ISP, you will see a random spam every few days, no matter who you are. The spammers ping those servers day and night with random addresses. If they do not reject it, you're on a list. If you so much as preview one, you will be on the "prefered list". The images in the message are beacons that register your address on their server, proving you read their mail.

I set up a Gmail account for my Vonage communication and I haven't received one spam email. I've also set up Hotmail accounts that have never received any spam.
