Okay, I've been studying this for a little while. I was in a national retailer today, saw the PAP2 adapter and decided to make an impulse purchase.
To keep this short, this store requires end user activation be done in the store as part of the purchase. I was under the impression I could make a purchase, take the box home and register later (using the link on this site, my business card that I didn't have with me, etc.).
Is this standard procedure, or was this shack, er, store just screwed up (as usual?). I'll probably just sign up online and have V send me the router, although I wanted the little PAP2 thing...

Buying retail usually gives you 1. Instant hook up 2. no shipping charges and 3. no activation fee.. Take the adapter back and you will pay 29.95 activation and 9.95 shipping. NO REBATE. Yes if you ask for a pap2 you will get one from Vonage. IMHO buy retail and get the rebate after 90 days.

you must be kidding. do a search for rebate, you never get it. i have beeen waiting 7 months. my mom used the link on this site, she got the free month right then, i wish i had!!!

buy it from Vonage using the coupon link on this site. that is the best deal.

I picked up an RT31P2 at BB a while ago. I paid for it and walked out. I don't remember how long after I activated it, the store did nothing but take my money. Not sure what they told you about in store activation, there is a retail activation link at www.vonage.com.

Well, considering the store, I'm not inclined to believe everything the salesperson tells me. Their POS system shut down the sale and required entry of a new account activation number before it would complete the sale. So I question it, and they begin 45 minutes on the phone with their sales support... it was sad. They require on the spot activation and I wasn't prepared to do that.
