I currently have Line of Sight Wireless broadband internet with 512up\down speed (thebluezone.net). I am thinking of getting Vonage, but I am not sure if it will work with Line of Sight internet. Also, I dont have a router\modem. The line comes into my house, to a small 2 port box (2"x2"), then a cross-over cable connects to my NIC. Not sure how I would hookup my Linksys to this. Thanks for any help |

The issues with wireless can be packet loss. just the Voip speed test and post your results. The Test can be found by clicking on Vonage Information and then Voip Speed Test on the left. |

i have line of sight broadband and have no problems with quality.
i recommend trying http://www.testyourvoip.com to see if your connection can support Voip. another test to run is http://www.vonage-forum.com/voip-speed-test.html , although i've read it's not the most accurate.
the line which connects to your NIC right now would go into the WAN side of the linksys, and you'd connect your NIC to the LAN side of the linksys.
you'll be much better off with any sort of router since it will provide a basic firewall for your home computer. |

What happens if a bird flies through the line of site....will the call be re routed??? ust a little humor on a Friday afternoon.
Seriously now. We had a line of site wirless connection at my old company, not used for Vonage, but for domain authentication, file transfers, etc. If you have had stable connectivity with this, I dont see why it wouldnt work. Its an invisible ethernet cable. |

Thanks for all of your help. according to the test, I can support 6 phone lines, which doesnt seem too bad, since I only need 1. I haven't had any service interupptions or slowness in the 6 months since I have had the service. I will think about getting that router. Thanks for all your help again |

the test here is somewhat irrelevant. if you don't try testyourvoip (boston, detailed results) before signing up, you may regret it. it's a pretty good inidicator of your connection quality. |
