Having read all I could about the problems with Tivo and Vonage, I was leery to sign up. I finally took the plunge yesterday -ready to do whatever was necessary to make Tivo work.
I plugged everything in - made the daily call expecting failure and it went right through ZERO problems.
I'm guessing that the new Motorola boxes make a difference compared to the Cisco ATA's.
The daily call has been repeated three times on each of my two Tivo's with no problem. They are Series 1 Tivo's
Thought I would post this to show that sometimes it does work. |

I still am having problems with my series 2 Tivo. The unit can not make any calls or test calls. I have read the post on the Tivo web site and am getting ready to try the external modem fix. Will post if it works. |

Mike, the daily calls seem to work most of the time(for most people), but when you have to do a software download, I think that's where people were having the most problems. |

I have a new Motorola MTA and i've completed several test calls and even a real daily call with my DirectTivo HDVR2. I tried several prefixes but those seem to not really work. Then I just plugged the area code in and everything seem to work fine. Its obvously not perfect every time but it seems to make say 1-2 out of 4 calls. I really haven't had a whole lot of time to test it but I'll look at it tonight and see if I have any luck. |

With Vonage all calls have to be placed using 11 digit dialing. SO yes, you would have to update Tivo's call out number.
I am on day threee with no problems so far. The earlier comment about the software download has me a little worried though. |

As a new subscriber, you will automatically get the Motorola. Vonage is not longer shipping the Cisco unit. |
