i was so exited to get Vonage got home, connected according to directions, no dial tone my set up is charter pipeline generic cable modem to my dlink DI-704p router then to the pap2 linksys phone adapter
i am able to ping phone adapter. i can access phone adapter setup through browser (shows line 1 state idle and offline)
i have tried setting up port forwarding, static ip, dmz plus, and resetting all devices (not all at once, and in the correct order for each) any ideas? other than calling Vonage i hope, being that i have no working phone line or cell phone..........or do i need to bite the bullet and call Vonage on a pay phone (yech!) as my only theory is they need to register or re-register my mac address. thanks in advance for any help......................... |

To make it simple you have to disable DHCP and NAT in the PAP2 and uplink to the dlink also run a link from port 3 to the WAN port in the PAP2 |

Is located on the Basic Setup---->Advance routing. Note: These will disable the ability to access the web interface of the PAP2. If you would like access the web interface of the PAP2 than you have to setup RIP.If you really dont care about it than proceed without RIP. |

I Apologize I thought pap2 was the same as RT31P2. Never seen a PAP2 Untill now... Well just give it a try with DHCP disable and uplinking the router together. Just out of curiosity can you post a screen shoot of your web interface.... Note:Block any important content in the screen shoot for sec purposes. Thanks... |

sorry, dont have a website i can post an image on.... it may do no good anyway. when u are speaking of disabling dhcp and nat, you are using a Vonage router, the Vonage adapter i have is not a router, so it has no dhcp or nat function, it just recieves address from my router, or i can assign static. my aplologies if i am mistaken or confused.....which i am [/img] |

LOL Sorry for all the confussion I just thought that the PAP2 was just like RT31P... But is not is just a phone adapter. The img was to see what tabs you had and what you could work on but never mind since is just a plain adapter. Sorry. |

hmm...interesting that it still doesn't work, especially with dmz. plug it directly into the cable modem and see what happens. be sure to give it a few minutes to update itself. |

i tried the direct to cable modem connection, waited at least 5 minutes after connecting to try anything.... the pap2 adapter pulls an ip address and has the correct gateway address for modem. still no dial tone. |
