Area code question

Hi. My apologies if this question has already been answered, but a search for "area code" provided 300 results, and I couldn't think of a better search term.

I live in Chicago. Suppose I choose a UK or Canada based area code when I sign up. Is there any way a party calling me (or a party I call) could determine my true location? Will my ANI be the same as my phone number? (does the concept of ANI even apply to Vonage phone numbers?)

My business is located in the US, but I would like to give the impression that I have a presence in Canada and the UK, also.

you can have a canadian or UK virtual number ($5 extra per month) but I don't think you can have a foreign number as your primary Vonage number.
The ANI is a 973 (NJ) number for everyone (even candians because all Vonage calls are routed through the same location). so it would have nothing to do with you per se, but it would appear that you are located in the US. Caller ID is different than ANI though, but you seem familiar enough to understand that.

you rcallers to your CDN number would not know you were outside of Canada, but when you called them, it woul dhave your Chicago number appear on their CID, unless you *67 blocked your ID before you called them.. if you have a CDN credit card and an address they can ship to, you can get a CDN plan and then the CID would be that of the CDN city you chose.. but yes, your ANI would still be from New Jersey.. this makes it hard to call 1-800 numbers.
