Post subject: Utah - Qwest - LNP time
I haven't seen many people from Utah on the forum. Has anyone ported over from Qwest? What was your LNP time? I'm sitting as follows right now:
March 31, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 31, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 31, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
I'm not concerned yet. It has only been one week. Just trying to get a feel for the average LNP time in my area.

Post subject: Porting number from Qwest to Vonage
It took 11 weeks to port my number from Qwest to
Vonage
. Made numerous calls to
Vonage
; it seemed to be mostly Vonage's problem. Finally wrote to CEO of
Vonage
, and after his office got involved the number transferred within a couple of days. Have friends who waited much less time than I did.

I've been waiting since Feb. 3 for my number to be transferred from Qwest. I've called
Vonage
several times but get the same thing, they're still waiting on my carrier for the transfer. If I have to wait 11 weeks I'm going to be one angry customer.
They should at least give you a credit for the months the transfer had not gone through. After reading the problems everyone has experience with the line transfer I'm beginning to question my discission to go with
Vonage
.

I'm in Kaysville, Utah
I submitted my port request on March 4th. On Wednesday, 4/6, I started getting my Qwest number calls through
Vonage
. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday my Qwest line had a dial tone still. Today my Qwest line is completely dead. Now I'm finally running my
Vonage
line through all the jacks in my house and I'm a happy camper.
Here's the funny thing. This is what my status shows right now...
Updated Date: Number Transfer Progress History:
March 4, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 4, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 4, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
Moral of the story? Don't rely on the dashboard status of your LNP port. When I login to my Qwest account and view status on pending orders, there is one there that has a completion date of 4/8 so I'm assuming that is the number transfer order. Maybe you can keep checking there to see if they are starting the transfer yet.

That is good advice. I'm going to check my Qwest account often. Although, I don't see where you check orders on your account.

Well, I called and cancelled my long distance service with Qwest. I read somewhere that having long distance with the phone company can lock any number ports. Hopefully this will help speed up the process. Ever since I called in, however, I cannot view my account status on Qwest's website. It always says that my account information is not available. I am moving on May 15th, so hopefully my number will be ported before then. If I would have known that it can take months to port a number over, I would not have signed up for
Vonage
. When I signed up on March 30th I was sure that they would have it done by the time I moved out. I really don't want to have to stick with a non-local number for my
Vonage
phone.

Well it took about a month for mine to go through. I think you'll be fine if you have until 5/15

I'm in CO on Qwest and I'm at two months now waiting on the number port.
Vonage
keeps saying that they are waiting on a date from the carrier. Sounds like a bunch of bologna to me, I temporarily moved my service to Comcast 2 yrs ago and the number was ported in about 48 hours.

Post subject: Cancel my Vonage service?
I have loved my
Vonage
service up to this point, but I have become frustrated already with Vonage's customer service, the hold times, and their unwillingness/unability to share information regarding the status of my number port. I have called twice and e-mailed several times. I never received a response to any of my e-mails to
numbertransfer@vonage.com
. Each time I called after being on hold for an hour I was told that the status was currently unknown. I move in twelve days and I am not going to be able to keep my Qwest service connected. I think it is time to cancel both Qwest and
Vonage
and do without. If I would have read the forums before I signed up, I would not have signed up for
Vonage
. When I read 20 business days, I believed that it would take 20 business days. I thought I had plenty of time. Time to change the signature to "Goodbye QWEST and Vonage."

Amazingly enough, after 48 business days my number transfer was completed today. I called
Vonage
today for status (hadn't heard anything from them in two weeks as is the norm) and they told me the transfer was scheduled for tomorrow. Later tonight I got a message saying it had been finished.
I don't know if this was total coincidence or if my constant prodding finally ended in a favorable result.
