No way!!! I just got home from work today and my
Vonage
phone was ringing a lot more than normal. I had some people call my Qwest phone number. It rang on my
Vonage
phone! After checking my account status it shows as being completed!
March 31, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 31, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 31, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
May 3, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
May 3, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer
Yay!! I am now a
Vonage
fanboy!

If you had waited over two months you might not be such a fan boy.

I'm in the Northern Colorado (970 area code) area and was able to get my number transferred as well from Qwest-- even though 970 doesn't show up on the
Vonage
website as being an available area code to select from. Totally rocks I think. The transfer took about 3 1/2 weeks to complete. I then tied it into my house wiring and it works flawlessly..

squirrelking, where at in Northern Colorado? I just signed up last week. so far so good. They couldn't verify my address for 911, but other than that, smooth sailing. Anyone else had there number transferred from Qwest in Northern Colorado?

I'm in Sterling, using Wireless Broadband. I guess we'll see if it works.

Wireless doesn't have good charecteristics for voice. I have a buddy in Elizabeth on wireless internet, he tried
Vonage
and it was horrible... he had to cancel.

Successful port in Logan Utah! It went over TODAY! (apr 24 LOA-May11 to full function)
Woohoo! It took 13 business days from LOA to the
Voip
phone ringing-in... not one call to
Vonage
or qwest required on this one. (The
Vonage
page doesn't show the port yet, but it sure works!) I'm stunned. I hope it is this fast for alll Utah customers. I was extra careful to make sure that EVERYTHING was matching exactly w/the phone bill.
Qwest line is still active... I'll monitor and see how long it takes for Qwest to complete the disconnect now that the port is thru.
Also, my internet service arrives at the house via a local 5.8Ghz wireless connection, about 5 miles line-of-sight -- seems solid.
Customer for life. Well, at least for a good long while.

I haven't seen many people from Utah on the forum. Has anyone ported over from Qwest? What was your LNP time? I'm sitting as follows right now:
March 31, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 31, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 31, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
I'm not concerned yet. It has only been one week. Just trying to get a feel for the average LNP time in my area.

Post subject: Qwest LNP experience in Utah
I submitted my LOA on March 12, and heard nothing for almost two months until May 11, when my Qwest line was disconnected and my Qwest account terminated with no notice--my wife woke up that morning and picked up the Qwest phone to find that it was dead. However, no transfer to
Vonage
took place and the account interface on the
Vonage
website shows that the last activity was March 14 when the LOA was sent to the carrier. Since then, I have made countless phone calls to
Vonage
and Qwest, both of whom blame the other for the situation. Qwest says that they released the number to Excel (Vonage's carrier?) on April 25, and disconnected my line on May 11 because their side of the deal was done. Now
Vonage
says they can't transfer a disconnected number, and Qwest says that they disconnected it because
Vonage
asked them to do so.
Vonage
says the number still belongs to Qwest, and Qwest says that the number now belongs to
Vonage
. Meanwhile, I have no incoming phone service on my number that I'm transferring.
Vonage
sent me an email today telling me that the transfer is scheduled for June 3, which they immediately followed up with an email saying they can't transfer a disconnected number. The bottom line is that nobody is giving me any answers that give me any confidence that anything will ever be resolved, and I'm now looking into buying a gross of tin cans and 600 miles of string...
Vonage's phone service and features are great, but the transfer process is
seriously
broken.
