Hello, I've had Vonage for a couple weeks now and am about to cancel and return the equipment. I have a Linksys PAP which I bought at Radio Shack and an Airplus+ router. I have no cable modem as the high speed internet is provided by the apartment complex, and the apts are already wired for ethernet. The internet provider is Openband, a VA provider.
The setup worked pretty good out of the box for about 2 calls. Then the next few calls would go like this: I'd pick up the phone, get a dial tone and dial. There would at that point be dead silence on the line. No ringing, no nothing. I found out from friends that their phones WERE ringing and they were answering, but I heard nothing at all. Don't know if they could have heard me or not. I would disconnect the router and the PAP then reconnect them and try again. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes I could call out and talk for half an hour with no issue, then make 2 or 3 more calls, but at some point it would quit and I'd just get dead air after dialing.
I sent 2 email requests to support and sat on hold once for 45 min, which is as long as my cell battery lasts now. No response from email. And since I have over 45 min of calls that were never completed on my account right now, I'm not too keen on using my Vonage minutes to sit on hold for hours.
I hope someone here can give me some ideas, or else I'm just gonna give up on this and try the Voicewing service instead.
Thanks Gail |
