I'm finding my cell bill really expensive to keep up with each month. I'm basically using that as my primary number (I dont have home phone service). I've had the cell number for 3-4 years now and I wish that LNP would work with phone numbers that come from wireless providers. As I'd like to disconnect my cell and go strickly Voip.

But not for everyone... Some ppl get the number in less than 1 week.. I believe we should get a month free just because on the website says 10 bussiness days... Not 20, not 3 months, not forever... Maybe we should email to a LNP specialist... I also had another issue: when i sigend up, the temp number assigned wasn't local, it was from outside KW area, even though it had 519 area code. I called customer care and they said i have to add a new virtual number, which I did, however now I have 2 virtual numbers, and for the last one they gave me one month credit.. After that I have to pay $7.99... What a nightmare... I ghave to call them again, stay on hold 1 hour, etc... i think we get more support here, in the forums, not on the phone... this whole process makes me sick...

Me too.. I got a temp virtual number in London even though I live in the KW area.. I think when you signed up it just saw 519 and assigned a random 519 number for temporary..

Ohh well, hopefully LNP will be done soon. I am on business day 9 now from my LOA being sent

Yea!

After learning that the LNP window was 20 business days instead of 10, I received confirmation that I was now gone from Bell Canada and fully a Vonage Canada local number!

As a recap, request sent March 30, LOA received April 5 (whatever, I still don't understand that one!).

Transfer complete on April 25.

As an aside, the status never changed from transfer status: n/a until the day after the move. Strange.

Anyway, everyone else, hang in there...it does happen eventually!

Has your transfer been completed? If not, you will have to continue to pay for your Bell service until the transfer has been completed. If you transfer has been completed already, you will owe Bell for service up to the date that the transfer took place.

i would reboot the adapter anyway. I did. What they don't tell you is that Vonage number that you were issued when you first signed up will be deactivated in seven days. This number will now show as a virtual number on your account until they disable it. This happens without warning so if anyone had your Vonage number, make sure that you tell them not to use it anymore.

It sounds like 20 business days is the standard for LNP now, not 10 as listed on the website.

30 days (biz days) and still waiting........................

Turns out I took Vonage too literally when they said “don’t make any changes to your account”. Even though I switched to Shaw high speed, I did not cancel my Telus high speed for fear of delaying the LNP switch. Turns out Telus will decline any request for LNP if it has DSL service on the account. Too bad it took 20 days to find that out.

I have called the LNP number quite a few times, but I have only been able to leave a message.

Hopefully this week, otherwise my wife is going to kill me.

I agree... LNP is very important... But if u go on the USA Vonage forum, u will see that some ppl were waiting 3-4 months to transfer their numbers from their carriers. It's a little scarry. To be honest with u, i don't really care, the only thing is that now we have to pay bell and Vonage, which is almost $80 per month for me. So, if my LNP takes up to three months, then maybe it's better to force cancel BELL, and get a brand new number from Vonage. Oh well... I am very dissapointed... 10 bussiness days is now 20... or maybe 3 months... God helps us all...

True I don't want to wait 3 months for this to happen but rumour has it that if it goes beyond 20 business days that you can call Vonage and get a 1 month rebate on your service..

Thats the rumour in the us forums anyway, let me know how it goes..
