Hello,
The stutter tone on my line no longer works. I have both an ATA and an MTA. The stutter tone has always worked. I got the MTA last week and now neither line gets the stutter tone when I have voice mail waiting.
I have been working with technical support on this for almost a week now but am going nowhere. I am getting very frustrated. One guy thought the ATA and the MTA could not co-exist due to port confusions. Even though that did not make sense, I tried what he suggested - by disconnecting the MTA and recycling all my network stuff. Still no stutter tone on my ATA. (I get the notification e-mail and can retrieve the new messages online or via voice mail.)
What can this be? Is the tone a function of the ATA/MTA (i.e. the network tells it to do this when the phone is picked up) or a function of the network (which actually generates the dial tone)?
Thanks. |

I'm having the same problem....but I have never had the stutter tone working. I talked with tech. support last Thursday and they have been in contact with me a couple of times. Last I heard they were working with their voicemail engineers on the stutter tone issue. |

My guess is its the MTA. I have had the problem for a month or so now. I've been working with Tech Support but they have been unable to resolve the issue. They say they are monitoring the data that my MTA is sending to their servers. They also say that they have confirmed that they are indeed sending the correct signal to the MTA. Who knows what the problem is.
I also have the VM notification turned on but have attachments turned off because I was told that this was the issue at one time. Haven't tried turning it off completely though.
I'm guessing that my router may be somehow blocking the signal or maybe the MTA is not receiving it properly. I really haven't had the time to troubleshoot it myself. I was hoping they would just tell me how to fix it.
At any rate, if anyone knows how to fix it let me know!

The last status I got from them was that:
for the Motorola MTA - it is a system problem they are working on for the Cisco ATA - they don't know - they have escalated my problem
It just seems they rushed the deployment of the MTA without enough testing. |

I just recently signed up for Vonage and therefore received the new motorola DTA. I haven't had a stutter tone from day one and Vonage tech support told me that they are working with motorola on the issue and that once this is fixed there will be a firmware update for the DTA. the update should download onto the DTA automatically once it become available. Who knows when though!! |

I've got the problem. Thus far my whole experience with Vonage has been a rocky one... I just hope that I don't regret transfering my old Verizon service.......
As for the stutter tone specifically, I've also had no success with customer service. I've dealt with several different techs on the issue and they all seemed to be suprised that it wasn't working... sounds like the right hand just doesn't know what the left hand is doing. |

"Thank you for calling Vonage customer service. At this time we are experiencing an unexpected call volume due to the fact that we are pretending that there is no problem with the stutter dialtone. All calls are being ignored in the order recieved. Please hold for the for the next available customer representitive "....
"Please continue to hold while your call is being ignored".... [u] |

I have the Motorola terminal and also haven't had a stutter tone from the beginning. Honestly, though, I don't care. I have it set up to e-mail me when I have a new voice message, and I am far more likely to read my e-mail than I am to pick up the phone to listen for the dial tone. |

My stutter dial tone came up this morning and as an added benefit, I now have a message waiting light. Didn't have that before. |
