Post subject: Linksys PAP2 steady red power light. Unit won't respond.
Somehow my PAP2 got completely hosed this weekend when I was moving equipment around in my office. Currently when I plug it in I have both a steady red power light and a steady blue ethernet light (even though there is no ethernet cable attached to the unit).
Attempts to communicate directly with the PAP2 via a telephone config "****" are met with total silence.
I have unplugged it overnight and then plugged it in again hoping it would somehow reset itself. At this point I am wondering if it got unplugged while it was in the process of a firmware update and so is now in an unbootable state. If this is the case, can the unit be recovered via a forced firmware upload?
I have a TFTP server on my network and with the proper firmware software and a couple helpful emails from a
Vonage
rep I am hopeful I can get this unit back up??
Linksys has no firmware downloads at their website and their customer support line is busy 24/7. I have called in to
Vonage
twice today and got their "India" call center. Twice I was disconnected after 30+ minute hold times from my cell phone.
After a very frustrating day I am hoping someone here can help!
Thanks

their call center is in new jersey, though apparently many reps are not from nj.
linksys doesn't have firmware updates because it's a
Vonage
device.
Vonage
has a tftp server, but you'll most likely need it to be pushed from
Vonage
for it to have any chance of taking.
sounds like your guess is correct, and unfortunately calling is about your only option.

I just had the exact same problem I called
Vonage
and talked to someone and basically they said the PAP2 was shot and there was nothing they could do over the phone. I bought the unit from a retailer so I would imagine I would have to go to the retailer to get it fixed. Luckily Vongage sent me the RT31P2 by mistake so I just got them to switch the MAC address for me to the RT31P2 so I am using that now.
So basically I think you need to get the unit serviced.
