IT's a day or two short of 30 Days. Just wondering what I should do or who to call.

I saw in your first post that Vonage will issue a credit if its over 30 Days. Is this done automatically or do i have to request it VIA a phone call.

Judging from what I've read in these forums, if you don't get your number ported in the first 30 days, you're in for a long, bumpy ride, rife with excuses and credits. For your sake, I hope it ports over in the next few days, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

It will be four months for me on May 3rd. The credits help ease the anger, but my rigged setup (Bellsouth line stripped off all but essentials forwarding to my Vonage number) doesn't always work (as in, my Bellsouth line rings once to signify an incoming call, but the Vonage line doesn't always take the forwarded call).

I'm going to stick with it a bit longer thanks to the credits, but the wait is getting a little old.

Atleast 10 emails were sent, I talked to customer service atleast 5 times, two tickets were created. So far, no date... Evil or Very Mad

"Vonage is an internet data company and not a phone company of any type."

I guess that's why their home page says: "Vonage: The Broadband PHONE Company."

Vonage's problem is that they've overpromised and then attempts to hide the facts of what happens when things go south. I've tried to get info about my number port over the phone so many times and failed... that I no longer call. I'm just plotting when to pull the plug on this service. (BTW, I've been waiting since 12-24-04).

Quite obviously that comment is meant in the "legal" sense and is the reason Vonage is unable to do their own transfers and must rely on 3rd part carriers which is why it takes longer then a regulated phone company. Obviously they sell phone service. Rolling Eyes

Also (believe it or not) the percentage of transfers going beyond 2 months are a very very tiny minority (almost a statistically insignificant amount) compared to those that have been sucessfully completed in a less then 6 week timeframe.

The account/line has to be active.Period. There is no way for anyone to have a holding account. You can keep it active by the normal way but beyond that Vonage can't do anything else. Sorry.

Currently our account with Sprint answers our number and says "Calls are being taken at XXX-XXX-XXXX." Hopefully that puts it on "hold" or remains active enough to be transfered.

That is not correct. Most major LEC's will keep an account active without a physical copper connection. Unfortunately many of the reps at the LEC's don't have a clue when you ask about it. Sometimes it's called a forwarding account and sometime a holding account. You think they will refuse your money just because you don't have a pair of wires running to your door? I know of 2 people (family) who have done it with Verizon specifcally (both when they moved cross country) and have sucessfully ported their number and have heard of many others doing the same and sucessfully porting their number from my very close friend who works at Vonage. As long as you can maintain your account & account number Vonage or their CLECs couldn't care less if the wires run to your house or are terminated at the pole.

That depends on if your ORIGINAL ACCOUNT still exists. If the actual account was cancelled then it won't help.
