Why would I need the ATA from Vonage if I already have "digital" phone (not that I know exactly what that is, just that I'm paying for it).....
Digital phone is simply the phone service that Comcast provides in some areas. Vonage is designed to be a replacement for traditional phone service or digital phone through your cable company so you will no longer need Digital Phone unless you want both for some reason. I'm a little confused though, because you also mentioned SBC which is a traditional phone company. Do you have a landline through them? If you only have 1 phone line, you wouldn't have both it and digital phone through Comcast.
Also you will need your broadband Internet connection for Vonage. I assume you have cable modem?
