I have recently installed Vonage in my home using the existing Siemens Gigaset 2420 system with a base unit including voicemail and 5 wireless extension sets. Now using Vonage VOIP, the voice quality is still excellent, but I now have a problem with the Gigaset's voicemail. When someone calls, the base unit picks up the call normally, but after the person leaves a message, the voicemail begins beeping LOUDLY like a fast busy signal for about 20 seconds before stopping. This is also saved at the end of the voicemail message when I retreive the message. I have called Vonage tech support (they say they have never heard of this and had no helpful suggestion) and have turned off the Vonage voicemail feature in my account, but no difference. I really like the Siemens system and really dont want to replace it. Any ideas?

Thanks
Phil

Hi there,

I use a siemens 4215 gigaset ... with 2 extentions. one is 4215 and 4200 works beautifully... I understand you dont want to replace all, but that beeping has to be getting on your last nerve. I have also owned the 2415 series of siemens... it's technology is under the 4200 series by a long shot.....
I wouldnt even mess with the voicemail feautures if you have a answering machine built in your siemens... if you dont have an answering maching built in... i'd have your calls transferred to your cell phone voicemail. If you dont have a cell phone vm.. then i would suggest resetting your phone and registering all the handsets again... if that doesnt work.. i would recommend getting on ebay and finding a deal on a new siemens phone without the high cost.

good luck,

Kim
