Looking for some help on how to set these 2 up together.

Had the Belkin router connected to 2 PC's and my connection to internet was fine. Then installed a Cisco 188 ATA between the internet and the router. I now cannot get to the internet.

My 2 PC's connect to the internet when connected directly to the Cisco but not via the router.

My (usually very helpful) ISP say that as the PC's connect to the internet without the router, it's not their problem.

I'm at a loss now.

Is there a special configuration I need on the Router to do this?

IP address is dynamically allocated as are my DNS servers.

I have tried setting the Router up with a static IP and entered the DNS servers IP's manually, but still no joy.

According to the Cisco website I should be able to do what I'm trying to do.

I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware for the Belkin...

Wondering what to try next! Help appreciated...

Update.

First, it's a NetGear RP614v3 not Belkin...

Second, tried setting the router to use PC's MAC address (although my ISP doesn't check it) and that did work.

Thirdly, set the MTU down from 1500 to 1300, no joy either.

Any other suggestions?

I noticed that vonage.com sell this Cisco ATA and suggest a NetGear RP614 as a bundle, so this must work, right?

Is there a setting on the Cisco ATA that I can change perhaps?

Help please...

Found it Googling - it may well not be currently for sale...

Thing is, it means they do work together (phew!) and I just need to find out the configuration settings of the NetGear and Cisco to get them to work.

I've tried every configuration setting on the NetGear, which leads me to think something on the Cisco set-up needs changing - as this was supplied by my ISP, i cannot access the box myself.

Unless it's somehting stupidly physical, like using a crossover cable?

I didn't think it was possible to install the cisco first, that it needed to be behind a router to work (or at least to share the broadband connection, a la the linksys pap2)

Oh right.

I'd seen a a few set-ups on the Cisco site, one of which was a

pc's -> router -> ata -> internet

setup on the Cisco website for the ata 186...

Perhaps I'll try PC's -> ata -> router -> internet

though I'm a little worried about the call quality...

Thanks

while we're at it, when and how did you get this cisco? does the phone work when you have it plugged into the modem directly?

I have the rp614 v1, it doesn't support QoS but it does ok.

I have the modem connected to the rp614 and I had the ata186 behind the router. Never gave me a problem. I have the vt1000 now, the ata died.
Do you have DHCP turned on in the router?
Also, you can set the Ip of the ata in the DMZ setting on the router.

Hi,

I was told about Cisco ATA-186-I1 and Cisco ATA-186-I2. Which one can I use?

Also can anyone let me know which router we can use if we are using a Cisco ATA 186 adapter?

Also how to set up the network ?

Vonage site gives ISP modem>Router>ATA>PC/phone.

Does Vonage support Cisco AtA if I have one before signing their service?

Thanks
Anu

Thanks
