I just added Vonage to my phone lines, and so far it has been pretty good, except for when I try to use the computers modem to dial up to another service.
I have found that a lot of times, I am connecting at 14.4 or 28.8 when I use to connect at 44.0 through my POTS. But then sometimes I can connect at 50.0 KBPS with Vonage. I have also found that my connection has been getting dropped after a few minutes.
I really need something a little bit more faster than 28.8 and something that is not going to quit on me every few minutes. Any suggestions? |

Using a modem through Vonage isn't going to work well. There are just too many conversions (A->D, D->A) along the way to get high speeds. You are essentially tunnelling through a high-speed service (Cable, DSL) using a low-speed service. |

Why would you want to dial-up through your high speed internet anyways? |

I have to work on my parents computer sometimes and they don't have high speed internet, so I just dial straight in. |

Surely the connection would be faster with them connected to their local POP and you connecting over the 'net with VNC or something.. ?
