I just found out that they will not alow you to block 411 from your line even though it clearly states this on there web sight, and after calling there customer service dept. the reps i talked too dont even know about this yet. Unfortuanty i feel that this is a way for Vonage to milk you out of more cash. |

Are you talking about having or keeping your number unlisted and Vonage charging you a fee to keep it private? |

I think he means that he wants to block dialling f 411 form his Vonage line, cuz they charge $1.25 for each call.. this can add up when someone doesn't know how to use a phone book or www.canada411.com ...
I wasn't aware this is possible to block it now, maybe it's included n blocking int'l calls??? |

thank is exactly what i mean, i dont want any one to dial a number from my line that will cause my bill to go past the 39.95$. I feel like they are Lying to the customer by posting the option to block it on there sight when they dont block it at all. 1.25 add up to alot if you have a compulsive 411 dialer in the house. I feel that the customer should have the ability to block all pay-per-use services from there line. |

I too think Vonage is being extremely misleading here. There website CLEARLY states that international calling disables both international calls and directory assistance, when in fact, it does NOT block 411.
I put in a ticket about it and called them for a refund from my roommate using it, because it's not fair to have a flat rate service and then get billed for features you don't want.
Here is a copy of the email the sent a couple weeks ago in reference to my inquiry:
----------- Thank you for contacting Customer Care.
At this time we do not offer a feature that can block Directory Assistance. We are working on offering a feature that will block Directory Assistance, like International Calling, but at this time there is no time frame for when this will be available.
Our developers are aware of what is stated on the Web Account and it will soon be modified to reflect this change.
Thank you for contacting Customer Care and I do hope that I have answered your questions. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.
Sincerely,
Customer Care -----------
I personally think the Vonage community needs to make some noise on this issue. It's not fair that I could run up a huge bill on some friend's Vonage line just because I could speed re-dial 411.
I don't want 411 to work. Why would I use it when I have the internet at my disposal? I want it blocked and I won't pay for services I don't want. Plain and simple. Now who can we contact at Vonage to make this happen? |

I was thinking that it might be nice if Vonage was able to program something onto their website that would allow people to inhibit the dialing of specific numbers. For example, any number starting with 900*, or any number such as 411, *555-1212, etc.
What if you had a kid who was calling someone who you did not want him/her calling? You could block that number completely.
I think that would be a great feature. |
