Has anyone been successful in connected there Vonage Voip to a Philips DSR 708? I have tried the call waiting prefixes and dialing prefixes. Also have tried the 212 area code. I do know I don't need the Directv tivo hook to the phone but it would be nice. |

I have not been successful, either. However, I was able to get the Tivo to connect via serial cable / PPP using these instructions. Negates the need for a phone call, unless you're doing PPV (which can also be ordered online). |

area code: 212 Dial prefix: 2122773895 Call waiting prefix: ,#034 Tone/pulse: Tone Phone avail detection: Off Dial tone detection: Off bandwidth saver set to 90Kbps
I also have a Phillips 708 from direct tv and was able to get it to do the intial download. It did fail the first time but all you have to do is make it do another daily call. |

Thanks maypo29 your settings worked for me like a charm. I did have to have Vonage increase my packet size though.
Thanks again!! |

so with this solution is there additional hardware/cables necessary - i have the same model directv w/Tivo and am planning to sign on to Vonage but want to make sure drectv/tivo service is not interupted or fail al together. Does the Vonage phone adapter have multiple jacks that you simply plug the tv reciever into? |

I have been having trouble with my Vonage connection using a Linksys WRTP54G and a DirecTivo Phillips DSR708. Finally got it working so I thought I'd post to help anyone else that's having the same issue.
Here's my Phone Settings: Dial-In Number: 651-239-1400 (I'm in St. Paul, MN) Dial Prefix: 7189875137 Call Waiting Prefix: *70,#064,*99, Tone/Pulse: Tone Availability: Off Dial Tone: Off
I had previously been using a 212 number but it just stopped connecting. Anyways, hope this helps someone. |
