What about if you have naked/dry DSL running through the phone line, even though there is no Bell landline phone service?
Could you still plug a phone cord from the phone port on the Vonage adaptor to a phone jack in your house (which should make every other phone jack in your house live, like projectpete mentioned) without damaging your hardware?

I think this will complicate things. If possible, see if you can have only 1 live jack. Cross-wire the rest of the jacks in their own circuit. Connect your router, Vonage, etc to the live jack, but use the Vonage box to bridge over the the dead circuit.
This would be the best way of doing things... If you have access to your wiring.
In anycase, I doubt a live telephone circuit will fry your Vonage equipment... but the ATA might interfere with your DSL service. |

Yes, I did exactly that since I live in a high rise appartment building and can not control the voltage thats coming in from my telephone jacks. So I went to The Source (formally known as Radioshack) and bought this one. Dual Handset. Can purchase additional phones for each room (that dont require a telephone jack) for $34.99.
This is what I bought -> http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=2.4GHZ&product=4318634 |
