Hey Everyone,
Here's a question for you. Over in the "tech corner" of my home office, I have my cable modem, Vonage adapter, cordless phone, and wireless AP.
Each one of these devices conveniently comes with its own power adapter that of course you can't plug in next to each other on any power strip. I use those "zip cord" extension cords with the 3 outlets on the end, but it is still a mess back there!
Has anyone seen a "multi" adapter that will allow you to power the Vonage adapter and one or more other DC devices? I would figure it would be a "bigger" adapter than any of the other ones individually, and it would have to support multiple voltages and different size coax plugs.
The closed thing I have seen is the iGo devices from radioshack or the like, but these only power at most 2 devices. Has anyone come up with a creative solution to this problem??
Thanks!! |

You know, I bet a power strip with the outlets facing 90 degrees from normal would work. Instead of this ====== Like this II II II II II II
My 2 cents. |

I am suprised you are having difficulty plugging them in next to each other on your UPS. You do have a UPS, right? Seriously, I have all my network equipment on a shelf near the house distribution panel and a wall mounted UPS. Everything is nice and organized. The device you are looking for would probably be called a multiple output bench power supply and would cost more than it's worth for your application. You might have more luck trying to get DC power supply then a bunch of DC/DC transformers, but then you are back to your wiring mess. |

I haven't looked, but I didn't realize there was such a thing as a wall-mounted UPS. Sounds like a good idea. Care to make a recommendation? |

Mine is an APC Back-UPS 500. It their largest wall mounted unit. Any larger and they get too heavy to hang safely.
It has three UPS outlets and three additional surge protected outlets.
I was hoping for a unit that also surge protected the cable line, but they did not have that feature in a wall mounted unit.
I have the adapter, cable modem and wireless router plugged in but have not tested it for run-time. |
