Thanks in advance for any help. Last Thursday I followed the instructions for disconnecting my outside phone line. I then hooked up my router to the phone jack and I had phones throughout the house. Worked great until Sunday. Now I can't get a dial tone on my inside wiring. The phone works fine when it's plugged into the router. I've checked it with another jack, i've unplugged all the phones, I've checked the phone co. box again, tried different wires, phones just about everything I can think of. We did not have a storm so I don't think any wires got fried.
Any Ideas?
thanks again.

I would re-hook the outside lines - I never disconnected my lines and just plug the phone into an open wall jack. All my phone jacks work perfectly. |

Do not plug in the lines to the outside again. You can damage the Vonage ATA if the line is still active. |

Thanks. I won't plug the telco back in. It is very perplexing though. Why did this work for 3 days, then all of the sudden stop.

If you still have active POTS service, I actually would try hooking up your outside wires again just to see if POTS still works throughout the house. Obviously don't do that with Vonage still connected, though. |

Plug it back into the house wiring and come back to your router and tell me what the status page says for line 1.
It if says anything but Idle you either have an offhook phone or a wiring fault.
Check very close. |

Thanks. I tried it and the status changes to invalid when plugged into the house wiring. Plug it back into the router and I get idle. Any way to tell if it is faulty wiring or off hook? I don't have any phones plugged into the house wiring so I don't see how any could be off hook.

You have an open line Jeff or an offhook phone. If you cant check it have someone that knows how do it for you.
When I take a phone off the hook in my house mine changes to invalid to. |
