I was just wondering how long people have been waiting for their numbers to be transferred. I started the transfer process back at the end of September 2004, and it is now the end of March 2005. I am transferring a T-Mobile cell number to Vonage. |

This is from the "LNP Facts" post at the top of the forum.
Don't waste your time trying to port a cellphone #. ESPECIALLY T-MOBILE. The cell carrier will reject you over and over (first they want your SSN, then they want your account password ... and it goes on and on).
So you may not want to hold your breath. |

If your transfer has taken more then 3 months you can be 90% (90% not 100%) sure the problem lies somewhere else other then Vonage. While Vonage may not be able to figure out why it more then likely isn't their fault. However, if it's been 3 months AND YOU HAVEN'T CALLED it's your fault for not following up. Some guy called after 5 months yelling and screaming and when his account said "still waiting for letter of authorization" .... well hello! |

I waited close to 3 months before Vonage could confirm a date that my number would be "captured" from my current provider (Comcast Digital). 3 weeks after filing with the FCC I got a commit date! To file with the FCC go to www.fcc.gov open forms link / select form 475 and file electronically. FCC claims it takes 30~45 days to follow up. Each form gets a case number. If enough people file these then someone may take notice of the offenders that are camping on phone numbers. Based on my experience, Vonage can only contact the current provider and ask for status. Obviously, Vonage is not a priority to your current carrier, therefore, the motivation is lost. Bringing in a governing body seems to make a larger impact. I know this is common sense but knowing who to deploy may help. |

I have been waiting since Jan 04,05. I send 2 emails weekly and 1 phone call weekly. Get the same responses. My number is being ported from Qwest using XO Comm. as the 3rd party. Still waiting... |

With all due respect .... I can almost guarantee that filing with the FCC had ZERO effect on your transfer. It happened "because it was time."
