PostPosted: Tue Mar 29, 2005 9:58 pm    Post subject: Why Five Simultaneous Ringing Phones With Call Forwarding? Reply with quote Back to top

I can thoroughly understand the personal selection of a simultaneously ringing Call Forwarded phone. Personally I prefer the basic, 2 second (about one ring) ring before transferring to my wireless phone. I've just recently noticed the change in the simultaneous ringing selection. I just don't see the purpose in having up to five phones ringing at the same time and in different places. Am I missing something? Perhaps there is someone out there to explain it to me!

I use it to ring my private home number (Vonage), my cell phone, and my office phone. That way I can receive calls wherever I am as long as I am in one of those places or carrying the cell. It used to be only the home number and cell, but since I work in a cell phone prohibited place I added my office phone when Vonage upped the maximum number of simultaneous ring locations.

Of course all of this goes out the window if someone else answers these phones in my absence, which doesn't happen. The only other issue is when I am on the office phone or the cell phone in which case their voicemail grabs the incoming call. Too bad there isn't a way to prevent that.

I need the dial the local Vonage voicemail number to retrieve messages rather than calling the home number which would go to the voicemail of the phone I used to call home.

Ok! That's very interesting. You're saying that I can Call Forward my home phone to up to five different phones, and have them all work as if they are individually forwarded phones. Did I get that right? I can see some use for that. I got confused with term "Simultaneous Ringing" which does not exactly describe the true meaning of the function. Thanks! Lol

I think this was great they did this. Because one of my cell phones does not reception in certain buildings and the other does. So rather than eating up my call forward minutes on my cell, I can have both ring at the same time with the home line too. Vonage is growing. Cannot wait for that ACR to kick in.

I think it is great that they did it too. You can never have too many features when you are a feature creature like me. Smile

The fact is, you don't have to use this if you don't find it necessary. However if the time comes when you do want it working, it's there and ready for you. It may even come in handy when you travel long distance. You can forward your phone to your cell phone, and also to your parent's phone, etc. When you are at your destination, you can continue to receive your phone calls on your cell, and/or at your folk's location.

Voicemails picking up the line would be a hindrance, but overall it is still a great concept and idea.

Thank you Vonage for giving us this little treat. Being the greedy feature creature that I am, I have to say that I'm impatiently waiting for the next cool feature to arrive. Lol

I want to thank all of you. This clears up a mystery for me. They just used terminology that didn't fit the function and I couldn't figure out why anyone would need to ring 5 phones. So, you can Call Forward to 5 different phones. Neat! You see I live alone and no longer work. One phone and one wireless is all I ever needed. I get frustrated with Vonage when they change things, even for the good, but leave for us to find out about it on our own. I will find some use for this. Thanks again!

Mike
