I am a new Vonage user and am using a DLink DI-524 router with the Linksys PAP2 phone adapter. I have configured my Vonage account and configured the router to enable port forwarding. When I pickup the phone I have a dialtone and I am able to make a call. The sound comes through on my end crystal clear. After about a minute though the person I called is no longer able to hear my voice. They say it is very good quality at first, but it all but dissapears after roughly 45 seconds. I called Vonage and they said they made some changes and to restart the router, but that didn't do me any good. I am in a foriegn country, however Voip is legal here and I have checked with my ISP and they do not do any port blocking. I have been using Skype for sometime now with good results, so I assumed the quality would be equivalent with Vonage. Does anyone have a suggestion of what the problem might be and what I can do to fix it? Below is my results from the speed test.

What kind of modem do you have (brand/model)? I had that problem until I upgraded my modem. |

Losing calls after a minute like that may be fixed by setting up port forwarding on your router. In theory this should not be necessary on any router that supports UPnP. However, implementation of UPnP can be spotty, and, for instance, many Linksys routers still require you to setup port forwarding. |

i have calls being dropped after a minute or two also. I can hear them fine but they can't hear me. My vonage/motorola VT1005V is not the primary rounter. Using Netgear WGR 614v3 wireless as main router....any ideas??
Thanks, Lee |

Lee,
My problem was fixed by implementing the "Bandwith Saver" option at 50kbps. |

According to Vonage, that router should work, provided you have the latest firmware. Go to NetGear's website & download the latest firmware for your router. They also suggest setting the NetGear's MTU to 1500. |

got this reply from Vonage:
In response to your email, please assign a static IP to the Motorola phone adapter and open the following ports for that IP address: 1. 5060 - 5061. 2. 69 3. 10000 - 20000 |

I have the same problem -- described as losing outgoing audio after a minute or two on a call. What type of modem did you replace yours with? If I'm going to buy a new one, I'd just as soon get one that someone else has determined will work with Vonage.
Thanks, Scott
