Post subject: Havig two lines on one account?
Hi all,
First time here, because I only recently found out about
Vonage
. I am very interested in getting
Voip
and it seems this is by far the most professional way of doing it rather than using a pc , mic, and speakers.
My question to
Vonage
when i rang them was: Is it possible to have two lines on one account...would there be a discount on the second line, are you able to control the settings for two seperate lines from one control panel etc.
The sales person on the other end, didn'y really catch on, or if she did, wasn't sure. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel for such a development, as if it is not far away i will hold off?
Many Thanks
James

She might not have known if you mean two distinct phyiscal lines, i.e. where you can have two different people using
Vonage
at once, or if you mean can you have two phone numbers on one device?
Two phone numbers is dead easy:
http://www.vonage.com/no_flash/features.php?feature=add_number
And as you thought, there's a pretty steep discount for the second phone number.
If you phyiscally want two lines that can be used at once, that's really a feature of the device providing you Voice Over IP (VOIP) service, or a matter of getting a second phone adapter. Vonage's website says you can have a second phone adapter at the same URL I provided earlier.
So either way, the answer is yes.

where do you see any discount on the extra lines? there isn't any for residential, and a small one for business, but nothing near steep.
I don't think this is what you're asking but you can not have one number assigned to more than one device.

Sorry i wasn't making myself clear:
I want two lines, that can both be used for voice calls simultaneously.
I had looked round the website and found the two numbers bit that technofiend mentioned, but this is so that someone at a different location, who works for me freelance, can also have a phone line that i pay for, that he can use for calls for my company and can receive incoming calls on.
I presume buying another adapter and putting in my account details would mean only one of us could use it at any one time.... if thats even possible, but again wouldn't suffice?
Thank you guys!
James

you can have one line on each device yes.
so two devices and two lines. the problem some people have is the single web account controls both of them, plus has all of the billing info. so he won't be able to log on to the account (unless you want him to have your info) to modify voicemail settings, bandwidth saver, call forwarding, and everything else.

John: Since JamesBradshaw will be paying for both accounts, both will be charged to his credit card. It shouldn't be difficult to give his information for the first account and the salesperson's information on the second account (with JamesBradshaw's credit card.)
A second approach would be for JamesBradshaw to set up both accounts in his name and provide the (second account) user ID and password to salesperson.
For both suggestions, I am assuming that JamesBradshaw is trusting of salesperson.

yeah, my whole point being you have to be trusting. I've seen at least one thread being critical of this so I wanted to point it out.
Vonage
gives you two account numbers (and thus web accounts) just because you have two lines? I didn't think that was the case.
