I would love to call the rebate center but the only phone number provided on the postcard that denied my claim is the Vongage Customer Service phone number. It says to call Vonage if I have any questions. Do you have another phone number?

You know I don’t think there is any intention of stealing here on behalf of the provider or the customers, at least on the scale we’re talking about. I went to a DMA convention years ago and rebates do come up. From what I gathered the intention is for you not to submit the rebate in the first place. Think about it you got your new widget now, then the reality of all that rebate grief sets in not to mention the wait. Multiply that by the “what you hear factor’ Then wam= meager half effort attempt.
The only winner is the sub contractor scape goat Rebate Company. That is untill THEY have to do the court thing.

No, sorry, I don't. I got my adapter for free directly from Vonage. Hard to believe Vonage just says "too bad." I'd keep pushing, ask for a supervisor, ask for the number for the rebate center, etc.

cutting off the UPC is not sneaky: It ensures you do not buy the product solely for the rebate and then return it.

ie, buying a $50 product, $20 rebate. get the $20 rebate and return the product for a full refund of $50. You've made $20.

THAT little practice there would be sneaky and underhanded! Not to mention fradulent.

It's also cheap insurance that you don't return the product.
Does the average customer know that cutting the UPC makes their item unreturnable? Probably not. Sneaky.

Again, Like I said the intention is to make you think you're keeping item, and hoping you forget about the rebate.

Another thing if you have looked lately UPC Copies are sometimes accepted. I make them do it before I make the in store purchase (for me it's hard to copy a 50lb box).

I signed up w/Vonage in October and promptly sent in the rebate info for the Linksys PAP2 I got through buy.com. I'm still waiting. Status continues to show "processing" for my rebate. Every month I e-mail Vonage and they send back a "check is almost in the mail, we are expediting your rebate" response. So far, that's been worth zero.

Same here. I love the service, even with the dropped calls, the "hello? hello? I can't hear anythings", the quirks of an ever changing internt, and other things. I seriously doubt Vonage is at fault with any of the above, nor do I believe they are trying to screw you out of 50 bucks. If I got mine free (Motorola, had it for a couple of years now), I'm betting on the rebate company/marketing comanpy that's in it for the greed. Look deeper.

I'm happy to report a resolution to my rebate issue. With the dispute I started via my American Express credit card they sent me a letter today stating that they have issued a final credit of $50 to my card account and that they agree that Vonage unresonably withheld my rebate. I'm happy now.

Yeah I know how that process works, specifically with American Express, and your experience is far from typical. While AE is great about handling disputes, they never get handled that quickly. And even when they do reverse a charge, they never give you any details unless it's that the other party failed to respond within 30 days. That is very surprising indeed.
