The Call Forwarding feature has been recently changed to offer more flexibility to the SimulRing feature.
Now you can forward your phone to up to 5 separate telephones simultaneously. Whichever one answers the call first, gets the call.
Previous to this upgrade, you could supply only one number to ring simultaneously with your regular Vonage number when someone called your home phone line. |

Thanks for the telling us about the upgrade. I didn't see it in the service annoucement. I look forward to testing it out.
I would also like to be able to activate call forwarding on the phone itself (*72). This option would make simple call forward activation quicker. |

Many people have been asking for the *72 flexibility. It is much more convenient. I don't know how many times I had my boots or shoes on, coat, and was ready to go out the door when I remembered I did not activate my call forwarding feature to my cell phone. It always meant taking off my shoes or boots and running upstairs to the computer instead of grabbing the phone sitting by the door beside me. It is great having this functionality from the computer, but it is not always as convenient as having it directly on the phone too. Some people do not always leave their computer on, and it seems like a waste of time and electricity to keep your computer on so that you can access the Call Forward feature. It cannot be that hard to program. Hopefully they will activate it eventually.
I think the problem is that most people do not use Call Forwarding. I don't know of anyone besides me who uses Call Forwarding on their phone in my circle of family and friends - I'm the only one who does it. This could be why Vonage is not paying much attention to it.
Today I went out and needed to forward my Vonage line to my cell phone. That is when I noticed that the option had changed. Maybe it was just enhanced today and they will announce it in the dashboard after Easter. I don't know what the scoop is on that. |
