I can dial out just fine and the quality is crystal clear. People say it is better than my old phone.
However, nobody can call me. They get a busy signal. If they try to call me from a cell phone, they get a message that the call cannot be completed at this time. I can't call myself from my cell, although it did work when I first set up my Vonage phone.
Will this issue resolve itself? If so, I'm happy to be patient. However, if the service is always going to be spotty and I won't be able to receive crucial calls, I can't afford to keep this service.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Sounds to me like it's time to give tech support a call. |

Monk, go to the forum listed as "Motorola/ATA". There is a wealth of information in there about exactly the problem you are experiencing. First off, what is your setup? Are you behind a router? Have you been sent the Motorola VT1005V?
If you answer yes to either question, you need to call technical support after you already configured your router, if it is Linksys, to forward ports to your VT, as well as increase the DHCP lease life to the maximum value allowable. Then reboot your VT, or simply dial #80 from an internal phone hooked into the VT via your home phone lines. Then test incoming calls.
What you may notice after rebooting and having the service work for a small time period is the same problem reappearing after a couple of hours. In this case, call technical support, they will most likely need to put your VT on a work queue which means looking at back end scripting, or possibly upgrading your firmware. MANY people have had problems with Linksys routers and the Vonage Motorola VT1005V .

Thanks all.
Spoke with Tech Support and set my ATA outside of the Linksys router (it feed into the WAN port on the router now as opposed to being connected as one of the 4 machines.
So far so good. I did notice that when running a low-latency videoconferencing program (http://www.sightspeed.com), it seemed to lock up a few times. I wonder if having two routers in sequence is going to cause me any grief on my computers?
Thanks again all! |

I have a switched hub in sequence with a router and it works fine. I would think that you would have problems running two routers in series with both running DHCP. |

I believe that I am having problems with my computer connectivity. Not with most programs, but I use http://www.sightspeed.com for videoconferencing and my conferences have been disconnected after only about 20 seconds ever since i installed the routers in this configuration. |

That last post was me.
I think i fixed things now by setting port forwarding on my linksys router.
My phone rings again and my videoconferences don't cut off. I'll let you know how it holds up. |
