We're in Medicine Hat, and have Shaw High-Speed. We do have some issues with sometimes when dialing out, the phone we're calling won't actually ring. Or we don't get the ringing signal atleast.
As for the actual Shaw speeds:
Lite: 128 kbps down, 64 kbps up High-Speed: 5 Mbps down, 512 kbps up Xtreme-I: 7 Mbps down, 1 Mbps up
That's from Shaw's website: http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/CustomerCare/InternetSupport/Residential/ServiceDetails.htm
It is our experience however that Shaw isn't capable of actually delivering those speeds... the downspeed is rarely over 3.5 Mbps actual speed, but we haven't been able to find any speedtest servers within a 300 km radius, so it's hard to check exactly how fast it is. But only getting 75% of the speed you pay is a little annoying. |

Im in BC using Shaw and Vonage. So far everything is great. My cable modem is Terayon and Im using a linksys WRT54GC wireless router. I have a vtech IP 8100-2 dual handset house phone, and Im using a UTStarcom f1000 wifi phone combined with a softphone account for about town and travel.
Everything works great so far. I really like Shaws service myself. I beta tested ADSL way back in the day and also was with the first roll out of Shaw in my area. Shaw has been the best. They rarely even over bill me...haha. Cant say that for telus. Ive had 600 bills from telus for no reason and literally was held hostage with my phone account to pay it. The reason they wanted 600 was for 2 ADSL modems which they said I didnt return. Anyway I even had a receipt for the modems from the local telus store when I returned them.....Bah...screw telus. Anyway...Shaw and Vonage is great. |
