Post subject: Vonage and ADT alarms
I just tested my new
vonage
system (
vonage
pluged into my phone line after I disconected from the telephone line outside my house) with my current ADT alarm. It worked great!!!! The alarm dialed out and sent the signal through
vonage
to ADT and they recieved the data about the alarm event. I have the new TiVo series 2 system and that modem cannot use the
vonage
system. Oh well I guess its no more pay-per-view. I have had
vonage
for about a month now and love it. Never had any problems. Still waiting for my number to transfer

Post subject: number transfer wait
On the number transfer process, I have been waiting 25 days. I received a note today that they (
Vonage
) would be contacting their agent handling the number transfer and send me a status update. I did change numbers just before asking
Vonage
to make the transfer, so they may not have been in a position early on to move at the process very fast since I was not able to FAX
Vonage
a copy of my current telephone bill with the number I was asking for them to transfer. I hope they get it done pretty soon.

Yea, just wait until you have a breakin and your Internet connection is down or
Vonage
isn't working. Put another way...do you want to stake your life and lives of your family that your ISP and
Vonage
is absolutely, positively going to work at the exact instant you need it to? I sure don't. No problem. you do have insurance, right?

Just a thought, since my phone box is located outside my house what would stop the bad guys from cutting it before they break in. My cable is burried, and I doubt they will cut it before the phone line. Another thing, I guess I have been really lucky, my internet service has never been down!!! (said with fingers crossed)

regarding ADT alarms, I just switched over to
Vonage
and I'm having a slight problem with my ADT system. The system can dial out just fine in the event of an alarm, but my panel intermittently displays an error code #94, which is triggered when the ADT system detect loss of a phone line. Has anyone experienced this and found a way to resolve this?

I was going to ask ADT if there will be any problem when I switch to
Vonage
. I guess the ADT box dial 1-800-xxx-xxxx so it should work great. It's a good point that cable are actually under the ground whereas my phone box is just located at my side yard. It doesn't really matter, if people want to break in your house, they will find a way to do it.

I have
Vonage
and ADT. I am confused as to how you connect ADT to
Vonage
. Do you need a technician to do this? How is it done?

I have an ADT system as well and have been curious as to how well this will work especially since I cannot get a local area code and phone number yet form area. As far as Pay-Per-View ordering, you can order via the Internet if you don't have your phone connected to your receiver. Has anyone out there have good or bad experiences with this type of setup. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I have ADT and
Vonage
working with no problems. You may need a technician to come out if you are not familiar with phone wiring.
At my house, the install tech had the ADT unit plugged straight into the box, the rest of the phone lines in the house plug into the ADT unit. This is so the unit can call out even if someone breaks in and takes the phone off the hook.
Easiest solution is to run phone cable (or better yet, CAT3 or above) from your
Vonage
box to your phone box. Put a jack on the
vonage
side of the cable; on the phone box, remove the 4 wires (usually red, green, yellow, black) from the contacts and connect the leads together. Once done, all of your phones and the ADT unit will use your
Vonage
line.
Dislaimer: I have oversimplified the heck out of this, do not attempt unless you undertand exactly what is going on here. This type of setup is beyond the standard operating parameter of the motorola vt1000 and may void its waranty . It works wonderfully for me but who knows how it will work for you.

Post subject: Vonage and ADT system
You indicated that you had a technician set up your
Vonage
system so that it is compatable. Did this take the technician a long time. Was this covered under the warranty and how much did it cost. Do you have an emergency back-up power system?
Thank-you for your input.
