Well, it's seem that someone miscounted the areas in Colorado that had received the upgrade. This little area, just outside the main offices for the entire Comcast conglomerate was left behind until the very last. I called customer service just a few hours ago asking what happened to the promised upgrade? I got the usual scripted answers. He asked me to unplug the cable modem for about 20 seconds and then reapply power. I was more concerned if I was going to lose him when Vonage was disconnected from the Net. Yet he was still there afterwards. Told me I would get an e-mail when they were ready to upgrade. I figured that I got the usual Schpiel that they hand everyone.
An hour or two later I ran another speed test and got a shock. 4.64Mbps download/476kbps upload. How did that happen? I doubt that customer service had anything to do with it, but then again, maybe he pushed up in the line up. Well thats that.
I had tried recycling the modem frequently, but nothing until today. Even the Voip Speed Test was unfriendly to me until today: 3.6 Mbps download 573 kbps upload Qos 53% RTT 75ms maxpause 141ms |

I can't help but gloat... I've been running 9.6Mb up / 1Mb down for about 5 years now with Cablevision.
With speeds like that, discussions about router based QOS are as quaint to me as "browser accelerators" are to the rest of you! |

why would you have 9.6 up and only 1 down? you probably do need a browser accelerator for that ;P |

Can you point me to some Comcast webpage showing what you're talking about? The only "Gold Tier" I find is a cable package... |

You won't find it on their website. Call them and ask for the $10 speed upgrade. It's nice. About double the upload speed. |

I've uploaded at that speed with my current package now. It just depends on when I upload.
I guess 364K is just what they TELL you...I don't know about CoNcast sometimes. In fact, I don't even know why they don't advertise this upgrade. |

No..you're getting screwed. They advertise and tell you that the $10 upgrade gets you 6000/768. Here's my speed right now off of broadbandreports.com
2005-03-31 09:58:44 EST: 6048 / 700 Your download speed : 6193752 bps, or 6048 kbps. A 756 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 716945 bps, or 700 kbps
I've never been below 700 on the upload...and most people at broadbandreports.com post getting just about the full promised upload speed. |
