Thanks for your responses. Do you mean, it's enough to take one of the outpouts of wireless into the WAN of Vonage LinksysRT31P2 and use PHONE1 for the phone. NO cable input into wireless?
The problem I had so far was the 'installation wizard' of wireless LinksysWRT54G which is asking for an ISP connection, which I don't have.
Anyone has an actually setup this kind of combination??
I don't think the 54G supports bridge mode; it only acts as an access point. Without buying additional hardware (i.e. an Ethernet bridge to plug into the 54G's WAN port, but then you have to make sure that the bridge will do whatever negotiations need done with your WiFi source--more on that later), I'd say to put your laptop into bridge mode and share your WiFi connection out your wired Ethernet port, then plug the router (or the PAP, your choice) into your laptop.
That said, I'll repeat an earlier question: where are you getting the WiFi access from? Is it a WiFi ISP, a pay access point like Starbucks, or do you live in a city/college campus that has stuck an access point on every streetlight?

Hi- I think I understand your problem. You only have a laptop, and primary way you connect to the internet is via a built in wireless card right? I just set my laptop up so that I can log on to a wireless network and use my Vonage...it's great for traveling internationally. You will need to buy a cross over cable...it shouldn't be more than a couple of bucks, and you can get one anywhere...Best Buy, Circut CIty, etc...
So here's what you do. While connected to a wireless signal, plug the cross over cable into your laptops LAN port and then into the back of the Vonage phone adapter. Then, go to your control panels and open network settings. Open the Wireless settings, click on properties and select "Share this computers internet connection"...this allows the Vonage adapter to "see" the internet connection and connect to it. In a couple of minutes your Vonage should work like a charm.
