When I subscribed to Vonage last week I said that I would like to transfer an existing phone number. I was given a temporary number, which is installed and working fine. I would like to cancel my phone number transfer request and change the temporary number to a new number in my area code and exchange. I do not see any way to do this from my web account access.
Anyone know how this would be done? I'm not getting anything back from customer care, so I thought I would try here. -Thanks. |

To clarify my first posting, I don't need a new number, I am fine with keeping my existing temporary number as the permanent one. I really just want to cancel the pending phone number transfer. |

Did you fax your letter of autorization to Vonage? If you have you will probably need to call them. If you did not fax it, just don't and they can not do a transfer and you will keep the virtual (temporary) number. |

That's a good point. I didn't fax the LOA, thankfully. I just want to make sure that the temporary number won't be taken away from me at some point when I don't expect it, and also the number that I originally requested for transfer is currently showing up in my online account info, and on caller id. So I really just want to clean the account info up and change caller id to whatever my permanent number will be. |

only way to cancel an LNP is to speak to customer service ... they'll send a message to the LNP cancellations dept and they will cancel out the "transfer" on your account in about 48 hours ... the temporary number will become your primary number ... and if you don't cancel it ... you won't lose the temp number but your account will remain messy |

That wasn't so bad. Took about 20 minutes of waiting on the phone, but she said that the transfer should be cancelled by Monday, and that my temp number will then be primary - Thanks for the help. I still never heard anything back from customer care via email. |

And most likely you won't. I think they go the Deleted Items box somewhere. |
