Well,

Sorry for the confusion... I did say that I attempted to update my firmware 2 different ways, I figured it would give away that I could tftp to vonage.net without a problem. I got the firmware update with no problem.

But as I've been looking through all of these threads, I don't think my routers that I have right now will work, since I've cancelled that account, and re-created another one. I'm going to wait on this other router to come, and I'll let you guys know what happens.

Ok, new account, new router, same problem.

Everything you've read up until now is still happening with new equipment, and a new account.

I failed to mention that my cable modem is a Toshiba PCX2000.

Could this possibly be my problem?

*Bump*

And update.

I'm willing to go out and purchase a Surfboard 5100 today to see if the cable modem could be my problem, but can someone just let me know if it's a strong possibility that this is why I'm having all of my problems?

Does your ISP need a MAC address in order to create the connection?

Do you have the cables plugged into the correct ports? Can you get to the admin screen of the Vonage box and is it getting a correct IP address from your cable modem?

When I got mine I stupidly plugged the ethernet cables into the wrong port and the box wasn't getting an IP address.

You need to Call Vonage, give them your router's MAC and them Ask them if its Visible to their server's.

Report back when you do this.

Ok, as far as the simple troubleshooting, we dont need to bring that stuff up, since I've gone through everything that you can think of multiple times. It's not a mistake of a improperly seated cable, or configuration. I've had the same problem with 3 different routers, on 2 seperate accounts.

Wouldn't you think that the mac would be correct on the 2nd account, if it weren't on the 1st? It would be a big coincidence for the mac to be wrong on 2 completly seperate accounts, don't you agree? Or are you just asking if they can see my device from the server?

Id like to know if they say they can see your router. Also when you look at your Admin Status Page what does it say for Line1????

To everybody that may have looked at this thread and been puzzeled. I figured out the problem with someone from Vonage that was a great help. Turns out there was a problem with the voltage in the power cord or something that wasn't allowing the router to perform functionally. Thankfully, I had 3 total routers, and 3 total power supplies, so I just swapped it out, and bingo the phone light came on.

So to all, thanks for your help, and suggestions...

Same problem here and same solution: Make sure you are plugging the linksys power adapter into the linksys router. I was inadvertently plugging in a Belkin power adapter. The Internet worked but not the phone. Once I realized my wires were crossed, the phone light came right on.

Note to tech support: Make sure you inform your support staff of this possible consumer mistake... LOL embarrasingly....

BTW, thx for the thread, and posting what actually solved the problem.
