Weird... it didn't give me that message. But anyway... here's the article.

Trooper in trouble for flippant answer to 911 call
LISBON, Conn. — A state trooper has been suspended for 15 days without pay for saying “too bad” to a 911 caller who sought help for a man injured in a motorcycle accident.
State police said the answer by Trooper Robert Peasley did not affect the response time to Justin Sawyer, 21, who died of a severe head injury a week after the crash last August. Peasley was suspended Monday.
Russell Shepard, a friend of Sawyer's, called 911, and the call was routed to the state police barracks in Montville.
Peasley said, “Yeah ... too bad,” and hung up, according to a tape obtained by WTNH-TV.
Another friend made a second call. “Yeah,” the officer responded. “Help will get there. Shouldn't be playing games.”
A third emergency call was answered by a different dispatcher, who asked about Sawyer's condition and advised those nearby to not touch him.

probably because you're regsitered. but what does this have to do with anything affecting Vonage 911 or regular 911 service? was it routed to the wrong place? |

Sorry, I just thought it was interesting considering all the talk on here recently about Vonage 911 service being lacking. Simply pointing out that calling 911 from non-Vonage phones isn't perfect either.
My apologies if it's not relevant.
And btw, no I'm not registered... I followed a link from google and it took me right to the article. |

Talk about 911 problems... Here in Indianapolis I had to call 911 due to an accident on the corner. It rang about 8 times then a recording came on instructing me stating that if this is NOT an emergency to call XXX-XXXX, then continued giving different phone numbers for agencies or non-emergency situations. Then the whole thing repeated... but in spanish! What a joke 911 is anyway. In my humble opinion, Vonage should make this a requirement for setting up service. Then, maybe the responsbility will fall where it should--the customer. Then the problem would be if one moves... |

Why! Should I subscribe to the Kansas City Post? That is the core of this thread, is it not? What has it got to do with Vonage?
Otherwise, if you expect to get the attention of the PSAP you would be wise to create a script and post it in a conspicuous location so that you and your family know exactly what to say and how to handle the call. When you are in a crisis, things don't always come out right. This works. |
