I reccomended Vonage to my wife's small business. He has four phones and the linksys router came today. They asked me to set it up. So my question is how do I set up four phones? What do I need for additional equipment and anything else I should know. He is running a linksys wireless lan in the office and I was going to hook the Vonage rounter to the wireless lan which I know will work. How to do I hook up the four phones?
Thanks Dan |

If they have existing wiring for the phones you may be able to use that. Simply disconnect the existing service and plug the adapter in its place. Otherwise you might want to get something Leviton Datacom Bridging Module Model 47603-110 and use it to wire the stations. The leviton products typically have very good instructions included. If you are connecting the linksys using wireless you will need a wireless bridge. Obviously you would be better served by connecting to the existing LAN using a cable. If you are working from scratch and there is currently no wiring, you may want to consider one of the multiple handset cordless phone systems. |

They do have existing phone lines in the building. So I can plug in the linksys router that Vonage supplied into the first phone jack ( the one outside line comes into) and the rest of the phones can remain plug into the jacks they currently are plugged into? Is that correct?
Thanks Dan |

Yes, but you must unplug the outside line first or you risk damaging your Vonage equipment. |

Make sure the internal wiring is completely disconnected from the street. After that, you can plug the adapter into any phone jack and they all will work, providing you are supplying enough voltage to service all the phones. |

More than likely you will have to call Vonage and ask them to turn up the power and or ring voltage to satisfy the requirements of the phones. It is very easy for them to do |
