Hi,

I signed-up for Vonage Voip service ang got myself a PAP2 phone adapter from Best Buy. I have been trying to setup the system for last 2 daysand have been unsuccessful. Not to mention the long hours I have spent getting help from tech support.

The system is setup up this way
Comcast Cable -> Dlink 614+ Wireless router -> LinkSys PAP2 Phone Adapter -> Uniden Cordless phone.

The problem I am facing is that I dont get dial-tone.

I have reset modem, router and adapter multiple times. Has anyone faced this before?

Any help is appreciated.

There were 2 issues.
a) The mac address was wrong
b) It seems that thru the router the adapter was not able to reach Vonage network for firmware update.

With the help of tech support, corrected the mac address
and connected PAP2 to modem directly and was up and running in 10 minutes.

Same exact configuration I have in my home. I simply connected everything up and within 5 minutes I was able to make calls. Call quality was very good, a lot better than what I originally expected.

One thing I noticed, but it might be because last night Vonage was having problems with outgoing calls, was that whenever I talked, it sounded like the earpiece on my phone would cut out. It would then cut back in when I was done talking. The other person I was talking to said they didn't notice any difference at all. I'm going to try it again to see if it was a.) the phone I am using b.) the service problems last night c.) just normal.
