Yes I do use a router with the motorola but the router is behind the MTA. I do not know which MTA I have, all I know is that it has the built in router. As soon as I get home I will check and let you know. Thanks, Mike

Mike, Rolling Eyes look at the box it was shipped in. It is probably the VT1005.

Rich,

You are correct I have the VT1005. Well the good news is that my father has been up and running for over 24 hours without a problem. As for me I have been up and running eithout a problem for 12 hours. Time will tell, Mike

I have the Motorola VT1000 Voice Terminal, and I have lost connection at least once a day!

Hi everyone,

I found this:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,8644566~mode=flat

on the DSLReports forums. Apparently the VT1000 and 1005 both have this security issue. I did the "fix" and so far I have not had to reboot in 24 hours. Maybe this open telnet port is an issue like the writer desscribes. It is worth a shot anyway.

I have some questions:

- What is the difference between the VT1000 and VT1005?
- What is the official Vonage answer on the security issue/setting?

Thanks.

Vonage said they would send me VT1000 to replace VT1005, that this would fix problem. (i was very doubtful) The new device was delivered today, they sent another VT1005. Confused
I connectted the device at 5:00pm and already had to re-boot it at 9:00pm. Sent them 2 not so nice e-mails. Now I am waiting, again.

The reason you didn't get a VT1000 is pure an simple. There is no such thing as a VT1000. The VT1000v "Family" consists of two different voice terminals; a VT1003v and a VT1005v. The VT1003v only has provisions for one telephone line, the VT1005v has provisions for 2 telephone lines and that is the model Vonage is currently shipping.

yes, this was explained to me yesterday by Vonage rep, that motorala has the 1000 series and when they say the will send you the VT1000, they are just leaving off the 5.
They again made some adjustments yesterday and I have not had a dropped connection since. I now have my fingers crossed that my problems are over and I can actually use my Vonage phone!
