A USB to Ethernet adapter will not work! You need to upgrade your ADSL modem so that it can accept an Ethernet connection. |

I assume you have the stupid little green thing that the adsl providers still give you (or something similar). Even forgetting about Vonage you should dump it and get a decent modem - about 30 quid. You connection will be much faster and you'll then be able to plug in the Vonage router.

by the way at the mo i have Thomson SpeedTouch 330 USB ADSL Modem Downstream: Up to 8 Mbps Upstream: Up to 832 Kbps PC Connection: USB Specification v1.1 compliant ADSL Connection: RJ11 jack
now that u said i need to up grade i need a modem where i can use usb and ethernet right? because i dont have a ethernet card in my comp(i dont know wat i am talking about there) and does a ethernet wire from the modem connect to the computer or the fone line, if the computer then is there a normal fone wire to the ethernet modem and if the fone line then what connects to the computer and with which port?
i saw D-Link ADSL Ethernet Modem DSL-300T Interface Type Ethernet Connectivity Technology Wired Max Transfer Rate 8 Mbps Digital Signaling Protocol ADSL Lite, ADSL Protocols & Specifications ITU G.992.1 (G.DMT), ITU G.992.2 (G.Lite), ITU G.994.1 (G.hs) Framing Format ANSI T1.413
but i think the following is better Netgear DG632 ADSL Modem/Router because it says:- Connects to your PC over 10/100 Ethernet or USB
but Linksys ADSL2MUE Modem with USB & Ethernet is cheaper

with the netgear you should be able to plug it into your computer using the usb port and the Vonage box through the ethernet.
However you really would be better off getting an ethernet card put in your pc, assuming it is a reasonably modern machine |
